The IEEE Xplore program encourages the development of standards-based and standards-driven tools for authors to create and manage IEEE publications, and for publishers to deliver IEEE publications via their digital distribution channels. An author who uses IEEE Xplore compliant tools to create and manage IEEE publications, and a publisher who processes IEEE Xplore-compliant publications against the IEEE Xplore PDF Specification, can establish a record of all accepted publications that are IEEE Xplore-compliant from the publication cycle that began in January 2010. These records are independent of the author's home publication cycle.
Users can search the IEEE Xplore database for publications; that is, related documents such as articles, eprints, and proceedings. The database uses a large collection of metadata and descriptive information such as title, author, classification, and subject to help searchers sort, browse, and report on the results of their searches, a user interface that is user friendly and intuitive. It is a dynamic and user-friendly database that provides searching capabilities beyond simply looking for a publication record. The database is organized and presented in a way that provides a host of ways for searching, browsing, and, finally, reporting on the results of the search.
Use the IEEE Xplore Database to find existing and published digital content by a typical author, such as an individual or a company. Content can be organized by publication category; within each publication category, by title; within each title, by subject, by author, by journal, or by publisher. This gives the reader direct control over the electronic versions of their work, and lets each author make their own materials available to others in the same area of interest.
